Has anyone owned one or both these amps? Which one did you like better?- opinions of both please. I'm now using a Fender Rumble 350 which doesn't have the power into a 8 ohm spkr that I need and also seems to have too much white noise. Of course I'm talking psg useage.Thx. I've owned both of them and I liked the GK better, it was easier to get a sound I liked with it. The Peavey was OK, but I had to really work with it to get a sound I liked. Sound is really subjective, this is my opinion, your mileage may vary. _________________ Darvin Willhoite
MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro. |

Ron, a while back many of the steel players were using the GK MB 200 and 500 and it was all the rage. I'm sure a forum search will yield lots of results. Like all trends it passes and Telonics amps, Quilter TT, and Little Walter are on the ideal choice list. Past must haves were Fender Tonemaster Twin, Boss Katana 100, Fender Mustang 111 v2 and some Quilter micropro amps. Not excluding several others I have forgotten. |

Ron, A couple of years ago I drove about 75 miles planning to buy a Peavey Minimax 500. It had all the features I was looking for, including an aux. input. However, when I turned it on in the store, the onboard fan was so noisy I knew I wouldn't be happy with it. I have had a GK MB200 for about 10 years and it sounds good into a cab with an Eminence EPS-15 speaker, and is totally quiet. However, to me, the best sounding amp I have had in the last 40 years, [including several Peaveys,] is my Fender Tonemaster Twin. It's big, but manageable at 33 pounds. |

I have been using the GK MB500 for a couple years and like it a bunch. I use a TC Electronics Hall of Fame reverb pedal with it. Lots of bottom and great high end too.
Tommy Huff built the cabinet which has a EPS-15C speaker in it. The whole thing weights 27 lbs.
