OK...
Technically it isn’t really new.
Technically it wasn’t manufactured this way by Eastwood.
Technically it may not even be truly a 7 string.
But,
It started life as an Eastwood Mandosteel, and it IS a 7 string now, and it’s “new” as of today in its present form.

So thanks to a bridge and nut set from Ryan Rukavina, here is my new Eastwood 7 string.

Looks good Brother!

Ryan R. does nice work. I watched his video once of how he makes the bridges. His Laps Steels are cool also.

Peace,

James

Thanks! I was also fortunate that all seven strings fit over the pickup. It’s kind of a ho-hum pickup though. I may replace it later with better one. For now it’s fine.

I’m guessing the two-course mandolin style tuning wasn’t working out?

It was actually working out fine. It just wasn’t getting played at all.

Also, I really disliked that modified tenor guitar bridge. It bugged me that Eastwood wouldn’t invest another dollar to put a proper lap steel bridge on. The Rukavina bridge is a work of real craftsmanship.

Great idea for repurposing a guitar that wasn't being played! Nice job Allan.

The more I play this guitar, the more I like it. The current pickup is interesting in that it completely lacks character and colour. Kind of the opposite of a Rickenbacker horseshoe or Gibson P90. So not great when played straight into an amp, but fabulous for playing through a pedal board.
