Hey guys, I have an early 1990s Emmons Lashley Legrand 1 that came with factory dual coil pickup. Does anybody have an idea of a pick up I could replace this with that sonically would fall between the Emmons single coil and hum bucker sound?

George L's E66. It was designed to mimick the Emmons sound, but it's a humbucker.

I wonder how the Emmons 108N humbucker would sound?

I did measure the pickup’s resistance today and it was 22 full and 12.6 tapped. I have read the the Emmons 108N was wound at about 22 but with heavier wire so as to be similar in tone to a single coil in the 19 ohm range. I do have an older Bill Lawrence 605 pickup that measures 15.6, but I realize that since its a true humbucker the resistance is not that useful.

Go by the sound, and ignore the numbers. The resistance or inductance only tell part of the story, but I've found the lower readings in either humbuckers or single-coils tend to sound better...more "open", airy, and clear.

Humbuckers don't hum, but they don't sound as clean and detailed as single-coils. Fact of life, I guess.

Yeah, I’m going by the sound. By the sound of my dual coil Emmons pickup I want something, tone wise, that falls between the brighter and darker sounds that I currently get. Do you have a more appropriate way to word my question?
