the owners of this late great American composers music have pulled this off my server sites before so i did not name it in hopes that it will get heard by the millions.....er...very modest amount of lap steel enthusiasts here on the forum.

i get to play banjo with operas when they do the opera that this song came from. when you hear the original chords he used for this tune, it is just fabulous. i tried to incorporate the chordal significance of the 9th chords moving up a whole tone over the bass into and the use of the #11 chord that sets up the last phrase of the verse. the strings play the opening notes getting into the tune. the slow lazy tempo also compliments the words. managed to work some bar movement downward while hitting some open strings. thx!

Boy, that is good, Bill! Brings the song back to its origins; positively orchestral.

That’s a beautiful steel guitar arrangement, and very nicely played.

Great mood, and expert playing, there. It has a Leavitt tuning vibe, am I right?
