This guitar was owned by the late Shorty Boyd who was a mainstay steel player on the Atlanta, GA scene in the 1960's and 70's. It was brought to our GaSGA event yesterday by an auction house in Conyers GA that is handling the estate. I did not get the guy's name or number. The guitar needs a lot of TLC but it might be of interest to some of you "members of the ZB cult".
I am not selling this guitar. Only posting to highlight it in case any of you ZB guys are interested. So, I did not put it in the "Steel Guitars For Sale" section. He is asking $2,500 but seems willing to negotiate. Web site http://www.gaschell.com

What's the purpose of the block of wood on front? |

Looks like the base of a music holder; the upright part of it is not in the groove. Just a guess. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

What a terrible way to ruin what was probably a very nice guitar at one time. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Yes, ruined. Not a $2500.00 guitar by any means. Doesn't look like the original body either. Not typical ZB wood and no inlays. |

Kevin, I thought of you when I saw the guitar for sale. I have no idea regarding the value and it is very "worn". I did not know Shorty really well but talked to him many times. I'm pretty sure I would have remembered if he ever mentioned that he changed the body. Just sayin'. Please accept my comments sincerely. I know you are an expert on these guitars. I don't have a dog in this hunt. I just snapped a picture in case there was some interest.
If someone is interested, I suggest you make an offer. The guy didn't appear to know anything about steel guitars. I saw him leave the event with it tied down in the back of his pick-up truck.

It's not really ruined, just a couple of extra holes in the front.
It was a pretty dopey idea, though. ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

Those Kluson tuners were the one thing I hated about my ZBs. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Playing for 55 years and still counting. |
