Hi All

In those brief moments of activity that the dreaded, vicious and seemingly never-ending 'Long-Haul Covid' permit me, I am trying to keep as busy as ever (sorry!!) Today I started on an album for two steels (unadulterated by any other instruments). Here is the first track just recorded today as a taster. I'm looking forward to it.

Enjoy (it's different!!)

Gary

Thanks Dan and Andrew...appreciate it. And I'm glad that some people (OK, a tiny minority) find what I do 'interesting'. Let's face it, there are plenty of truly great steel players out there, but to be honest, I for one always struggle to find much in the world of steel playing that is genuinely interesting. Obviously, I'm mildly interested in players who can do technical things that I can't, but that's not what I mean.

Thanks

Gary

I enjoy your music, Gary. I love the steel guitar and anyone who takes it "outside". There are so many great types of music, I could never just listen to just one genre. That being said, I pretty much play the cliche! Very Happy

Thanks Joe...as always.

Couple of things:

Don't get me wrong, I love cliches, in fact when I was a professional academic I spent many years and many pages of articles and books exploring the cliche as the embodiment of something universal, something extraordinarily powerful and important. So, almost all of my music, while sometimes a bit odd on the surface, is actually exploring the cliches that I have inherited and love like everyone else. Second thing, I would hate to produce music that was merely interesting and nothing else, almost a joke: "yes, very interesting". In fact, the music I love is usually not something I'm all that interested in: I just love it. And, as far as my steel playing goes, I'm only really interested in trying to capture the inimitable beauty of the instrument, rather than come up with quirky excursions to try and be different. If you listen to what I do (which you do...thanks) it's full of classic pedal steel cliches that I have struggled for years to try and play properly!! And still trying!!

OK, I'll shut up now.

Gary
