This is final track that I’ve recorded for my new record. It’s a gorgeous little ballad with a strange form. I’m proud of this one. My friend Ron Oswanski provided some great accordion playing and I drew inspiration from him. This is how jazz is working for me in the covid age, I guess. But you’re all invited to the jazz luau.
i left it all out on the field for this record, so to speak. I am burnt from six months of tune selection, arranging, playing all the instruments, coordinating soloists, recording, learning new software, mixing....what else? Oh yeah, leading this project. I don’t really have the energy to promote it now, buy I’m hoping for a second wind.
Thanks for listening. This project has been a blast and every note of steel guitar was played on the Sol Hoopii-owned Rickenbacher 6 string lap steel that was bestowed upon me 3 years ago. I think I got a lot of music out of it, a crappy ukulele, a nice old Kay bass, and a little solid state Fender Bronco with a blown JBL.
I’m releasing this album in the next few days. Please give a listen, make a guy feel good.

Just put in my preorder, which allowed me to listen to about 5 tracks. Great stuff. I look forward to hearing the rest. Very cool that you used Sol's Rickenbacher. Interesting that you chose to play ukulele instead of guitar, given your background in jazz guitar. |

Originally, I had a completely different concept in mind. But the pandemic made me rethink everything. I wanted to create a small group setting, and since I was going to be the rhythm section, I decided on a Hawaiian style trio. I didn't know how to play uke, had to make my own chord charts. I didn't want the sound of a jazz combo, I wanted something with more vibe. It's my jazz luau. I like the idea of limitations and this recording ticks all those boxes for me. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

It’s a brilliant approach, and the recordings are magnificent _________________ Santo Fan Club - from the island of Coney to the sands of Rockaway

I bought it a couple of days ago and it's on heavy rotation. I think your vision there came through, Mike. It's very cool. |
