Hi all im the new guy around here so forgive me if this has been posted to death already. So I've been playing the PS for about 2 years now but been playing 5 string and Tele for about 20 years or so, so I'm some what coherent... lol
anyway I've been progressing fairly well in learning this critter.. Mostly by ear.. and i seem to have a good grasp on most of what I've been playing but the one thing im having trouble with is pick blocking. I don't have much for steel players near me to just go learn from. Any resources y'all may recommend to help out? Thanks!
Also im in Central PA and would be willing to travel a reasonable distance to get a lesson or two to get me pointed in the right direction and help me avoid bad habits and the like.
I do alot of session work for local recordings for banjo/guitar and have been doing more and more Steel work. Mostly Pad style chordal stuff filler licks and basic soloing. But my biggest thing is now that i have work coming in for it i need to further what i know as i know there's always more to be learned and i find myself repeating alot as i dont have alot of experience playing with guys around me maybe one or two steel players i have near me that arent doing to much anymore it seems.
Thanks again and appreciate any help Yins can throw at me.

Paul’s course is awesome and covers blocking very well. The thing that turned the lightbulb on for me was Joe Wright’s 32 moves! |

Great thank you. I've been thinking about getting the whole set of e9 foundations. But the only thing that has been holding me back is it says 99 for the year and i was just wondering if i loose all that content after that year or how that works |

It's $99 for a year's enrollment/access to the video lessons. You can download and keep all of the TAB and course supplemental documents. If you study it, take notes and master each lesson, you won't need to watch videos of Paul teaching it, you will have internalized all of the material. Hope you can join us! |

Can't go wrong with a Paul Franklin lesson.
You mentioned pick blocking, but how's your palm blocking going?
I'm no expert, but I think one of the challenges with pick blocking is that really seems to work best when you're not changing grips quickly or often. _________________ Marlen S12 and a ZT Club |
