What is the major/deciding difference between the tone block 202, and pro block 200, one has more tone adjustments looks like. All input, opinions appreciated, it is for PSG at Church, size/weight not an issue, it's never moved. Is the price difference worth it? It will be used with Peavey 1504
Thanks, Bill _________________ Bill Ford S12 CLR, S12 Lamar keyless, Misc amps&toys Sharp Covers

The TB202 is the model used in the Travis Toy signature models. I've played several Quilter amps including a 101R and Steelaire. The 101R was great with my Telecaster but fell short with steel. The Steelaire is OK but don't use George L's cables or you will have too much highs to deal with. The PB200 apparently has been discontinued as its not listed on the Quilter web site, the EQ options are very limited and aimed at lead guitars.
I have the TB202 amp and to my ears its the best Pedal Steel amp I've had since a 1970 Fender Twin Reverb. Several switchable EQ's - an active or "Fenderish" passive tone control options. |

I also really like the 202 amp, especially thru a peavy black widow 1504. _________________ Emmons, Franklin, Mullen |

I don't think the Pro 200 is still in production. I think it was the model that preceded the TB 202. _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

Same combination I use! I love carrying the 202 in to my friday night gigs and hook up and play. I have another cabinet with the 1504 so could play another gig during the week, but gigs are fewer and further between these days! Once I got the sound I wanted, I took a photo of the settings with my phone so I could easily put it back the way it was. _________________ Justice The Judge SD-10, 2007

Thanks for the input, Guitar Center still offers the 200 but the 202 looks like the better one, still on the fence about upgrading. From clips I've heard, both sound good with PSG, probably go with the 202, thanks again for the input.

Let me join the 202 Club ... I've been through more than a few amps over the years, and except for the 70's Fender Twin I had, and didn't like, I've always been a 15" guy ... THEN, I got a Telonic's 500C 212 SuperTwin, and after warming up to it loved it. Then the 202, and the 202 12" Combo became all the rage and after hearing them, and playing through them up close and personal, I finally got one for myself several months back. Since then I added a 15" Quilter Cab to the mix and have to say that the 12" and 15" together are about as good as it gets. To my ear the 15" seems to add just a bit of very pleasant warmth. I still love the SuperTwin, but it now finds itself in my Storage Closet. The 202 is my main squeeze now. _________________ Dale Rottacker, Steelinatuneā¢

Hi Doug really enjoyed your Night Riders version, were you playing direct into a DAW or were you micing a speaker, if you were, what speaker were you using, Thanks |

Damn! That Ghost Riders clip is SOOOOO GOOD!! Not a fair assessment of the Quilter, though.....Mr. Doug Beaumier would sound good on virtually any amp!! _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

Just got one and am playing it thru a Webb open back cabinet loaded with a 4 ohm JBL K-130 speaker. I am really very pleasantly surprised at how good this set up sounds. Boys in the band also really took notice. Very clean and clear, great definition and no cut your ears high end harshness. It's as good as anything else I've heard in quite some time and at 3 lbs. it's a big time winner for me. _________________ MSA Legend SD10, ZumSteel SD-10, Telonics X10 pickups, Hilton volume pedals, Fender Steel King with TSNEO-15-4, Evans FET 500 LV with TSNEO-15-4, (2) Webb speaker cabinets loaded with 4 OHM JBL K-130s |
