Went to the mail box, and got a pleasant surprise. An early delivery of Steve's book from Amazon. |

Received hard copy yesterday from U of I Press.
Can't wait to dig in - looks awesome. That Steve Fishell is some kind of writer! Already in the first couple of pages he's got me laughing as he quotes Buddy during one of their first interviews: "Treat me like you would any famous person." |

Got mine - I'm on Chapter 12! Great stories. So glad this is all documented.

Loving it so far! The anecdotes about his practice and what he listened to are worth their weight in gold. I’d hope everyone young player would read this. There is a path to virtuosity. _________________ www.brucebouton.com |

I'm about halfway through, savoring each chapter. Noting Emmons' jazz influences is invaluable. It's also worth noting that from his early teens on, besides playing almost every night he was fanatical about practicing. He was born with massive potential but clearly put in a tremendous amount of time and effort to develop it. You don't have to be a musician to enjoy this book. |
