That is very nice Doug. The best I have ever heard it played on pedal steel.
And it looks like you have that "pick blocking" thing down perfect. I never could manage it and too old to start trying now. hehe
Will be watching for more. _________________ AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps. Nice one Doug. As I have said before, you stay close to the original melody and play the fire out of it with a masters touch and tone. Keep em' comin' |

Ditto on previous comments Doug! I appreciate your great song selections and that you donβt try to cram β100 notes in a 50 note sack!β ππ |

Hi Doug, Nice touch and tone. You must have taken lessons from Jerry Byrd. |

That was indeed a breath of fresh air!
It's uncluttered, cleanly played and a lesson to many of us to treat steel guitar as a musical instrument.
Thanks for sharing, Doug. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Very pretty, Doug. There's a lot of music to be made with two pedals and a couple of knee levers.

The number of levers and their necessity is another discussion.
Doug's piece is a well established and much loved 'standard'; had he modified the basic changes of Willie's song with the use of, say, the 9th-lower then something might have been lost.
Having said that, I consider that pull to be vitally important for tackling a more modern pop repertoire.
And I agree with Doug: I too find the vertical to be difficult to use and I assigned my least used change to it (raising the 6th string a whole step). _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!
