A friend of mine just told me Chesnutt did a version of this song with lots of steel. Must have slipped right by me. Anyway, anyone else heard this version? I love it. I did a quick search on the forum about Chesnutt's version, but nothing came up.

Duane,
I've heard that version. The Wes Jones Band I play with was doing this for awhile.

Hadn't heard that version, but I like it.That tune opens right up with a good voice like Chestnutt's on lead vocal. |

His CD version is there on youtube too, but on the live version you posted, is Slim Yamaguchi, Mark's long time touring steel guitar player. Dunno if he did the recording though.
Allmusic lists the date as 2006 but doesn't list any musicians credits. |

I think I’ve read somewhere that it’s Mike Johnson on this version. Hopefully someone can confirm it. Agreed, great playing. |

That's great. I used to work with a band (Pikesville Rye) that did a good job with that song when it was still new. One of the bands I work with now should bring it back, and I'm going to suggest it. Tommy..... |

Yeah. I posted that link some time ago. Slim does a great job.
I spent a lot of time studying, learning, and steeling his licks before we added the song to our song list.
It usually fills the dance floor when we play it.
I remember learning the song way back when it was new. One of our guitar players also played flute and saxophone. |

Paul Franklin was on a lot of Mark's records, he might've used either Paul or Mike Johnson on "Heard It In A Love Song" |

Good work Jeff. I found that some time back. Thanks for that.
I'd also like to say I really enjoy your tab work. It's very concise and so easy to read. I'm sure we all appreciate you putting in the effort it takes to do this for us. |

Thank you very much for the kind words, Jerry. I enjoy doing the tab and an opportunity to give back - I've met some great folks over the years through the Forum. |

Who has the CD and is going to check the credits on it so we will know who the studio players were. If they are listed. I have 6 of his CD's but not this one.

Hey George....the CD is called "Heard It In A Love Song" but unfortunately apart from songwriting credits, there are no musician credits on the sleeve. It says "for additional credits and lyrics visit our website at www.markchesnutt.com" When you go to Mark's website it sends you to the allmusic site and unfortunately there aren't any musician credits listed for this particular CD.
Very unfortunate...I've always thought it was unfair not to credit the musicians who played on a project by name. The extreme case of this would be the hundreds and hundreds of songs The Wrecking Crew played on and never got credit for.
