Just purchased a Rogue Lap Steel for $89 online to take with me on a trip for a couple of weeks when I won't have access to a steel or standard guitar. My expectations were relatively low but I was hoping it would be good enough for limited purposes. I received it today, polished it up, changed the strings to NYXL's, tuned to C6, set the bridge for a level 21" and plugged it in. To my suprise, it sounds fine and intonates well. I had a lot of fun playing it this afternoon. My first lap steel since I learned on one way back. You gotta use heavy strings because of the short scale. If you got serious, you may also want to change out the pickup. I'm leaving this one as is.
