For those of you who’ve had dobros setup for F tuning, what do you prefer for string gauges? I’ve only ever used the stock D’addario resophonic set which is…
16, 18, 28, 35, 45, 56
I used these last year for my road gig, which requires the F tuning, and it all felt a little too slack. Curious if anyone here has been down this road before, and what did you settle on? |

If you have no choice just go up a few .001's for each string (.018-.020.-030...etc.)
Depending on what's available.

Hey Kevin, how goes it! I waited a little too long and had to get the string order in, but ended up just bumping up the first 4 strings by one degree.
17,19,29,36,45,56
With the old set, the 2nd and 4th strings were the ones that bugged me the most.

There are only two dobro songs in the show and both are in F. One of them was recorded with the dobro tuned down and has to be that way to get it to sound like the record. |
