Not sure where to post this. I've re-covered my seat two times, and the vinyl doesn't last very long. I guess I'm buying the wrong stuff. Where can I get seat cover material that will go the distance?

If you are using Naga-Hyde to cover the seat with.
Check upholstery shops and supply places that cater to the Boating Repair Industry, Marine Grade Naga-Hyde is heavier and has Sun blocking Ultra Violet components in it.
I lost my close source for Marine Grade NH a few months ago. I have made all my equipment covers out of Marine Grade.

You can try any upholstery shop or a fabric store. I went to a fabric store and got some blue crushed velvet to recover my pack a seat. Then I went to an auto upholstery shop to get some new foam in order to replace the old beat up stuff.

I had to recover my 39-40 year old Dekley pack seat. The vinyl messed up over the years. I took the lid to an upholstery shop and looked at their samples and got some recommendations. I didn't want to use vinyl. They showed me a very heavy duty office chair material that is kind of a gray/black woven look. They did an excellent job with non-foam padding too. The material on this seat will probably outlast me, and the padding doesn't seem to be wearing at all. Consider coverings other than vinyl and see if you find something you like.
