I finally got around to making myself a PSG WORK Stand... Being 78 & retired gives one that luxury.
It was simple to make, my buddy owns a CNC, so he tried to make it fancy.
Having a Sierra, I chose to be different in my design of a work stand.
I'll post my Guitar up there, in a day or two so folks can see it in action.

Here is the setup ready for working on my Sierra PSG. I have since added a 3 light pole light, so I can see real well, while doing what needs to be done.
The bungee cords do a great job of securing my PSG in place. It is held snugly in place.
Very soon, I will add a lip at the back, to prevent tools from sliding off & will also add a sliding drawer for tool storage convenience.

Charlie,
Sorry to hijack your thread. Your stand looks great. Here's my take on one. I've rebuilt two guitar's on this setup and rearranged copedent on others.
It is really stable and parts, rods, tools, etc go right in the case.
Available for a small royalty for any guitar or case builders that want to take this idea and run with it.
Please excuse my workbench...

Nice idea, I can see where folks might like to have one of your stands. If they were at a gig or home, they could use a table & put their guitar up on the stand for work & Git 'R Dun...
I don't play out anymore, so that idea never came to mind.
I designed mine around these premises. "Tables are easy to find, but they are not all the same height". So, I made my work stand, to include it's own work table.
Our PSGs all look similar, but that is the end of the similarities. When we get a new guitar, that wasn't made for you, you are gonna wanna TWEAK your Guitar , so it's easier to play...
Good Luck to all.. _________________ Steel Guitar players are members of a Special Family |

Someday I hope to design a work stand atop a sit/stand desk, to get the height of the guitar being worked on just right. Some days I seem to be shorter than others, so that adjustabiity will be nice. _________________ E9 INSTRUCTION

Nice travel option!
I've gotten addicted to working on and rebuilding PSGs and put this work station together a few weeks ago. It's built into a Home Depot rolling tool cart that came with a wood top. Purchased some cheap "T" slot track and a couple of "T" bolts with speed nuts. Routed out some slots for the track. Went together in about an hour.
Flipped the front support around to be closer to the work.
Both supports are made to be reversible to fit a variety of guitars. I haven't cut the other side of the front support yet and will have to figure out a shape to support a D11 ZB custom. So far it has been able to accommodate single and double neck Emmons, A loafer, Sierra S10, Fender 400, and a Zum S10. It is very easy to adjust for pretty much any guitar (so far).
I think I will swap out the green machinist felt for some good thick suede.
I'm still building out my new shop, but if anyone needs any work done in the Seattle area, I'd be happy to help. _________________ Microphones, Recording, and lots of pedal steel guitars! |
