Not entirely sure this is the right place, but:

I'm interested in getting a Weissenborn-style guitar and the pickings are slim around here (San Francisco), so there's a decent chance I'll end up ordering something custom from Lazy River or Celtic Cross or a similar builder.

Obviously, I'd like a chance to play one first, so I'm wondering if anyone fairly close to SF might have one and would be willing to let me sit outside (with a mask!) and play for a little bit.

I might also be interested in the Adams acoustic slide if anyone has one.

EDIT: Or if you're selling one, I'd be delighted to have a look!

I'll bring the bar and the fingerpicks and your choice of cold beverage.

Thanks,
Nathan

Thanks for the suggestion! I did check out the website, and they do have one Weissenborn, but it is well out of my price range (around $4500). I'm only seriously looking at under $2000.

I doubt that there are many “Weissenborns” in any stores anywhere but there are a ton of them on eBay and Reverb. It’ll be very hard to try one out in person. The $3-4K ones will likely sound varying degrees of fantastic. I have one of the cheaper ones and even that sounds good plus has a pickup. I also had a custom guitar made by Celtic Cross and it sounds great. I highly recommend those.

I am enrolled in online dobro lessons from Peghead Nation and the instructor, Mike Witcher, demo'd a Goldtone Weissenborn. Sounded great and he praised it. I believe it's under a grand.

Those Celtic Cross ones do have a great reputation, and I actually get up to Victoria now and then...
