A friend to many of us—although most of us only met him “virtuallyâ€â€”Steinar passed away on this day nine years ago. But if you’re like me, you’d prefer to remember another day in February: 2/19/03, the day Steinar joined the Forum, and began sharing his knowledge, humor and encouraging words ... all translated from his native Norwegian.
He was an incredible musician and an equally fine person. RIP, “Brick Norski.â€

He was the first or second person to greet me when i joined the forum 17 years ago. I have his CD around her. He did a great version of God Only Knows. |

I spoke to Steinar only a few days before he passed, which was quite a tragic incident. He had been given a prognosis of about a year and he was determined to spend as much time as he could making music. Sadly, a high fever resulting from infection caused him to awaken in the middle of the night in delerium and suffer a terrible fall.
I think about him often. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Steinar was one of those folks who made the SG Forum such a neat, inviting place. Always friendly and generous with his time & his considerable knowledge and experience. Steinar is definitely missed, but he lives on through his great CDs, and that is a beautiful legacy. Thank you for the remembrance, Russ! |

Steinar was a wonderful person and one of the most lyrical lap steel player I’ve heard. I so enjoyed our email correspondence! So sad and unjust that he died in his prime. RIP Steinar. _________________ Steel Guitar Books! Website: www.volkmediabooks.com |

He was very friendly and helpful to me, and I wish I had known him in person. This was a very sad loss. |

I just found this among some old photos -- I think Steinar was considering this as cover art for his first album ...
