*****GIVEAWAY*****

Yes it is FREE!
We are giving away a free Mud Stand! Just answer this question....
What is your favorite album based just on the steel guitar work?

Just comment and we will pick a random winner on Feb.28th!! Good luck!!!!

The Mud Stand...

1. Holds amps up to 21” tall, 30” wide, 12” deep and 70 lbs. max weight.
2. Tilts your amp back to the optimum angle for playing steel live.
3. Isolates your amp from hollow stages which can adversely effect your tone.
4. Only weighs 3 lbs. and packs into a neat block for carrying.
5. Made of acoustic foam. Will not scratch your amp, cases, floors, or your car seats.
6. Stops Reverb tank crashes caused by foot traffic on the stage.
7. Stops beaming, from the backside of your amp, to the drummer.
8. Takes up very little floor space. Great for small stages.

”The Mud Stand acts as a buffer zone between your dialed in tone and an acoustically unfriendly hollow stage.”... Guitar World Magazine

OK... since nobody bites...

Stan Hitchcock with Curly Chalker... "The Shadow Of Your Smile"

I think that besides intricate and obviously "different" to main stream steel backing of a Country Singer, it was a very complementing and fitting accompaniment and solo.

Today it's this one*:

Not for the quantity of steel guitar, but for the quality of about 24 bars of the C6 ride in the middle of this tune:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ5Ud9vpXYs

The incomparable Buddy Emmons, of course. The rest of those Nashville Cats aren't too shabby, either. High art, in my opinion.

* Pose that question tomorrow, and my answer may be different (but unlikely).

This one’s a tough call between two of Midlands albums.

I’d have to say Midland’s “Let it Roll” album though is my favorite. It’s just packed full of wonderful steel parts.

Ray Price "The Night Life".
I didn't know what instrument was playing the intro but I knew I had to find one. 55 years later I still love "The Night Life" and still love playing steel guitar.

IMHO I'm saying Conway Twitty "hello darlin" album with Mr John Huey. I don't think Lew Houston played on that album. Anyway, there you go. That was fun.
