| I have an MSA vintage XL supersustain II Designed by Bud Carter decal. It’s an excellent condition. I haven’t decided if I’m going to sell it or not but I’m just curious how much this piece would be worth. I’m a banjo player myself and I don’t have a lot of knowledge about steel guitars. I haven’t figured out how to put pictures on here yet but I can work on that. Any info would be helpful, thanks ! |

Chase, it is really difficult to put a value on something that you can't see.
But even some more info might help.
D10 or S10
# of pedals and # of knee levers
Color
The old MSA's are built like tanks and weigh about the same.
I have seen D10's go anywhere from $1200 to $2000.
The XL model, I believe is a laquer guitar. So condition of body would affect value.

I would price it at around $1500ish. Possibly $2,000. The old MSAs are great built guitars, not many people look for them though. Yours looks in great condition.

looks to be in great shape... I would ask for $1500 and see what happens.. Might be worth a bit more, but then it becomes a tough sell. That guitar has the optional "polish package".. You don't see that all that often on MSA's.
It does have a weird pedal rack, made of wood... Perhaps it was special ordered, but I have my doubts.. Never saw a wood pedal rack on an MSA.
It might have been built after the original rack was lost or something.. It looks like maple, look well done, and most likely will be just fine forever, but might diminish the guitars value just a bit in the eyes of some buyers.... bob
