I'm sure many of you, like me, have reached the point where you are converting old analog tape recordings to digital before they disintegrate. I wanted to share this song that my dad, my brother and I recorded back around 1998. This is a great Shelby Lynne song (aren't ALL of her songs great?!).
Our recording was done on a Yamaha 4-track cassette "Personal Studio System" that I bought in the early 1980's. Dad (Jerry Johnston) is playing his double 12 ShoBud, I contributed bass and acoustic guitars, and my brother (James) provided the vocal. Piano and drums were programmed from a Yamaha keyboard I had. Everything was run through a Peavey XR-700 PA board.
Dad and I had never heard this song prior to this day - my brother was the Shelby Lynne fan and played us a cassette of her version. My brother has never been in a band; doesn't play and instrument - just sings for pleasure occasionally with the family. I'm partial because he's my little bro, but I think he should have been cutting records back in the day. Hope you guys enjoy this.

Really nice recording Joel. Nice tune. The music and vocals sound great. Even better, a terrific family album. Lots of fond memories there I'm sure. |

Fine recording for the times. Steel sounds great and came across loud and clear. Nice work. |
