Does anybody know what kind of pickups Gary Carter from the Marty Stuart show uses on that ZumSteel? Looks like some kind of humbuckers, but I am not an expert.

Look like 710s. Remember Gary has great tone and execution, the pickups are just one factor in the chain etc.

Even though they look like a two single coils, I'm assuming they are humbuckers. Don't you have to have two coils for a pickup to be a humbucker?

They don't look anything like single coils. Each row of magnets has it's own coil, and the way they are wired together makes it a humbucker. With the XR-16, you can wire a switch to the red wire, then to ground and "split" the humbucker into a single coil

Richard, let me clarify. All single coils I have seen look exactly like this, except one row of magnets instead of two. This is why I said it looks like a single coil, but with two rows of magnets. You are quiet right too. With two rows of magnets, that certainly rules it out looking like a single coil
