Hello and happy holidays all!

Wanted to share with everyone my new to me Sho Bud Super Pro 6166 8x6, and I believe this guitar is the 1st Super Pro made, and the cover on the Anthology for Pedal Steel Guitar book.

Guitar is in need of some work (gotta love those diamond stickers), but the TONE!

If anyone has any more info on this guitar, would love to know!

Thanks everyone and happy holidays

Well I fielded a few things I learned in a PM to you; but now I see the pics and the main one is the sticker underneath of course April 1978...but "BUILT BY" PF is certainly Paul Franklin Senior and I had a phone conversation with Mr. Franklin long ago...but mainly about the introduction of this NEW Sho~bud Model and some mechanical knowledge nobody would understand about what I would say and it's also a handful of Secrets I promised Dad Franklin I would Always Keep. But I will say: if it has "Built by PF"...then you got a GOOD ONE>>>>PERIOD!!!!
Now I wish AJ Nelson was still alive; as I have a couple question to him about the finish....but I'm sure he's looking down on it and pointing at it and saying: "Look at That mess"..ha.....
Thanks for sharing that on here Justin.

I had one of the first several Super Pro guitars that Sho-Bud built in 1978. I was working for Jeanne Pruett at the time. I don't remember the manufacturing number that it was, as I never payed much attention to those things when I was younger. Anyway, it was stained what was called "charcoal" so you could see the grain underneath, and had inlay on the necks as well. Paul Franklin built the guitar and tweaked it some when I went to the Sho-Bud factory to pick it up. It played and sounded great. Later on I had Duane Marrs install aluminum fingers on it and chrome surround BL705 pickups on it. I later traded it to Ron Lashley for a new Emmons Legrande SKH. I wish I still had both guitars. Sorry for rambling on!

What's the story with the fret boards? Did Sho-Bud ever use that type, or is it from a different brand. Cool guitar.

Looks like a home made job, just getting some proper playing card boards on there now!

Wow I have Scotty's old book somewhere in my studio :-} ... My first D10 was a Super Pro 9 and 9 which I custom ordered and was built Nov 81 ...serial #17360 ...it arrived at my house in NZ on 11/1/82. While I no longer own this guitar, one of my students has it...and it has similar "ageing" to the finish hehe .... gee the lacquer finishes in those days just didn't hold up at all ... my guitar is still in it's original condition, BL705's 9 and 9 and I would love to get it back and rebuild it to it's former glory !!!!
