Hi all - I'm reviving an old topic: Anyone know where I can find those Clem Schmitz Instant-on bell cranks? I see one on EBay - maybe that's the only place? _________________ '75 Emmons p/p, Duesenberg Alamo, Dobro with Hipshot, Nashville 112, Little Walter 22/50, Fender Blues Deluxe, and enough effects gear to fill a dump truck. |

You can get them from Clem. His handle us Freedomsauce or something to that effect. Yes, on ebay... _________________ '81 Sho-bud LDG, 2 EMCI's |

I got one of those bell cranks from him. It worked like a charm. |

I'd like to put one bell crank on my PP, to add 10th string lower on LKV on the E9 neck. It already has the lower on string 5.
I'd have to take off a whole bunch of raises and lowers and take the cross rod end out to get a new one on there. I have a bell crank but have been chicken so far to actually do it.
I've considered the instant on bell cranks, but also have ben hesitant to go that route, for originality's sake.
For now, I just do without that change, which is not a big deal.
Those are great though, solve a real problem for PP owners that don't want to take apart the whole damned thing to add a pull.
Let us know how you get along. |

Mike, will do. Like you said, typically it ain't easy to add raises and lowers to the p/p. My most recent was the C to C# on the C6 (3rd string). As the C6 veterans out there know, that's the equivalent of the AF on the E9 and I can't believe I went all these years without it - especially when using a D tuning on the 1st string. You probably know this already as well, but keep in mind you may need to install a collar on the rod that allows for fine tuning when you are doing two raises on the same string using different pedals. _________________ '75 Emmons p/p, Duesenberg Alamo, Dobro with Hipshot, Nashville 112, Little Walter 22/50, Fender Blues Deluxe, and enough effects gear to fill a dump truck. |

I’ve used Clem’s EZ on/off bell-cranks on my ‘74 &’78 PPs. They work as well as the OEM ones. I left them in place on both guitars.
As far as I’m concerned, they are improvements, as they allow me to experiment and preview new changes without having to “deep-dive†into the undercarriage. I’ve rebuilt four pushpulls and am not shy about working on them but Clem’s bell-cranks can be a real timesaver. |
