Hello, exactly what is the mod for the Bluetube 2 and what does it do? I have one that sounds pretty sweet, but I have no idea if it has the mod. Thanks!

I really don't know what the mod consists of. I can tell you this, the one I owned was hand written in black marker and marked "steel mod" with the date inside the top of the case FWIW.

Eddie, the mod is a pad on the input so the guitar doesn't hit it so hard and it's cleaner sounding.

With or without the mod, the Blue Tube II is a great sounding unit.
All the Tube Works stuff is great! :d

Thanks for everyone's input. Does anyone have a schematic of the mod? If so, I can check mine out, to see if it has it. What is the time period of the mods? Thanks in advance.

Those Blue Tubes go back a long time.
I remember when they were sold through Emmons.
I have several of the Tube Works units.
Their reverb unit is a real collectable.
It is a 12 spring, two channel, unit that can be configured either series or parallel.
B.K. Butler started out with Carvin before starting Tube Works which was eventually sold to Genz Benz.
I haven't contacted them in quite a while but you could still get parts for the discontinued models through them. Very Happy

As I stated earlier, you might just open the case as look for these markings. Otherwise, I dunno if you'll be able to find a schematic for these.

I bought this one around 92, I think.
