I know that most of the steel guitar community has little appetite for steel guitar music that is beyond the bounds of what they're used to hearing on the pedal steel guitar - Lloyd Green, Buddy Emmons, etc., (I love them too!), especially mine. But for those few who might be curious about my approach to the pedal steel and to music in general, here is the link to an interview I did a couple weeks ago with Michael Ross from Guitar Moderne.
It was a Skype interview. We talked for over an hour, and I think it was the most in depth interview I've ever given, and it covers a lot of ground - my take on the E9th and C6th copedents, my own tuning (and why), a couple notable gigs, my equipment, technical explanations of some of the extended techniques I use, microtonalism, my history and musical influences, tone stacks, and how I write and record music with explanations of how some of the pieces on my current album Pedernal came into being.
I enjoyed talking to Michael (a guitar player based in Nashville).Unfortunately, I was unaware that the video (or even the audio) would be used, so I look pretty ragged out (probably an understatement, the lighting was poor (luckily), occasional pauses searching for words, and the video quality was poor on my end (another blessing). That said,I feel it was a good interview. He was knowledgeable for a non-steel player, and his questions were intelligent. Of all the interviews I've done over the years, this one, especially for specifics, was the most in depth. So it's a long one, an hour long, and you may need some patience.

Oh, and now that I think about it, if, while watching, you are able to hold your head at a certain angle and put your hand over your right eye, that would probably make for a better viewing experience.
