Intro: Probably Jim Vest. I also hear some of his sig. low bends about 1:00 & 1:20 or so.

How do players come up with intros like this anyway? I guess that's what sets them apart.

RIP Vern Gosdin. Big fan. I understand why he was known as The Voice.

I jam with a fellow that sings this song and a lot of Vern's stuff, but never have I got to do this intro as no one seems to know the structure of it. Maybe one day.
