So I switched from dual Session 500s and a Alesis rack mount effects 12 yrs ago . Since then I have used a Revelation ,Lexicon MX200,Crown XTI 2000 watt stereo amp and other components like Korg tuner, Furman power unit . All in a shock mount 10 space road case Im using two Peavey Classic E115 cabs with 1502-8 BWs shallow baskets .Then I see the video with Paul Franklin and he is using a Little Walter with Benado effects .What is the opinion on the Steel Dream ? at 600 its a high end unit . Then whats the next latest and greatest ? |

I don't know what you can do with the Steel Dream that you can't with separate units at a lot less cost.

Yes your right Erv, I just think its the dollar bill on the end of a fishing rod trick LOL . Its too easy to get spun out on the latest and best new thing . The PSG world can be so crazy . Just when you think you have the sounds and tone you like , something else comes along .

I don't know anything about the quality of the effects in the Steel Dream, how would they compare to something like Wampler or Keeley? Both are generally above average in quality of sound and components.
If they are comparable, then the price is comparable. It depends on what you want, what can do that thing, and how much money you want to spend. For my taste, Wampler does everything I need. I own several Wampler pedals.
And, yeah...too many choices! Haha _________________ RICK ABBOTT

In terms of trends, there's been a move towards lighter powerful steel amps- telonics, milkman, quilter, the new fenders to name a few. Similarly, the steel dream cuts down on excess weight and cabling. People seem to like it, and customer support sounds reliable. Most of this stuff has been around for years, including the little walters. |

Size of effects/multi effects is a concern for me as well.
I don’t need overdrive, chorus, or compression. Just reverb and a hint of delay. A small stomp box is all I’d want. Several Delay/verb options out there for me, in a single small box. I currently use a Keely, but could get by with just the amp reverb.
I’m thinking a lot depends on what you think you need, and how big a footprint on the bandstand. |

Thanks for the input guys . I have been out of the loop for quite a while . The last time I was following the PSG industry the Revelation Tube preamp was Hot stuff. I still like mine . It still gets me compliments on tone . |

well I have 2 pedal boards, one is the compact 3x board the other holds 5 or 6 , much larger. I bring the one that makes sense for the gig. Both boards have what I feel are quality stomp pedals, they do what I want and need.
I recently spent a few bucks on a NUX "Atlantic" combo RVB/Delay pedal , 1 pedal does the work of 2, and quite well.
I can't comment on the Steel Dream, I'm sure its a high quality excellent unit, but I never heard of it before Paul started using one. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Tech 21 manufactures the 'Fly Rig' which is an all in one unit similar to the 'Steel Dream'. There are several versions but the one intended for acoustic instruments appears to have the features most suited for steel players. They run around $300.00. |

At the studio, we own just about any pedal you can name and I have tried just about all of them in various combinations. That said, there is a certain “it†thing in the Steel Dream that makes me choose it every time. Sometimes it’s hard to put your finger on exactly why, but I think it’s the high quality of the effects and the way they are wired together internally that gives it the clarity and depth I love. Whatever it is, it just works for me and am really looking forward to the new PF-6 unit that I have on order. _________________ John Macy

I have the Eventide H9 with Bluetooth control so it can sit in the back of my amp and I can fully control it with my phone app. It only does one effect at a time and most of the time I only use reverb and delay. Been looking at the Source Audio pedal which has two totally separate processors and controls for delay and reverb at the same time.
This pedal also offers desktop PC/MAC and cell phone programming capability! You can save 8 presets on the pedal without using the app and you can also use it as DELAY/REVERB, DELAY/DELAY and REVERB/REVERB.
