| I recently acquired a Nashville 400 in a trade. It has the chrome corners, which I assume is an older model. I have 5 of the Ken Fox Burr Brown chips. Should I do the mod or leave well enough alone. I did like the mod in a Nashville 112. |

I think the early model can be improved with the chips.
The later models came with those already installed.

The original mods for the Nashville 400 as done by Le May, The Peavey Factory and later by Ken Fox included much more than the chips.
Capacitors and resistors were changed.
Ken's mod is more extensive that the other two. |

Erv, I remember reading that about the older vs. new models, but I didn't remember if it applied to the 400 or another amp. I have put chips in 3 Nashville 112's. There were 5 chips, if I remember correctly. Do you know if the 400 also uses 5 chips. It's been quiet a while since I put chips in. I hope I don't install them backwards.
I will most likely be selling the amp, so I think I'll wait to see if the buyer wants the chips installed or not. |

No, it applied to the Nashville 400 also.
I ordered the chips from Peavey for my 400 but have yet to install them.

There ae 6 chips in the Nashville 400.
I had a 400 with an early factory installed tone mod, that didn't include any chip changes. I installed OPA2604's and could not hear any difference. I suspect the same with the 2134 chips. |

George, I thought there were some differences among the NV400 years and I found this post by Jack. Sounds like you have item #1 in Jack's post. Those came with the chrome corners, I believe.
It may depend on whether yours has the orig. chrome dome 1502 and whether the circuitry is the same for your era amp.
I also seem to remember that the original NV400 had passive eq. v. the active pre of the later ones. I can't remember exactly, so I defer to those with better info.

2. The NV400 with a 1501-4, with no tone mod (this one does need the Peavey or Lemay tone mod).
3. Later production NV400's (from about September 1996 to end of production) which have the tone mod incorporated during manufacture. Mike Brown (Peavey) listed what serial numbers have the factory installed mod, I had the serial number but can't find it. |
