Anyone know the dimensions of a pro 1 and pro 2 Sho Bud length hight width etc etc , thickness and anything else ? This would be a D 10 of course. Also where to find part for such a steel , end plates key heads and the like . I thinking about a replica of such guitar I can make alot of the parts myself but need dimensions I think it might be a worthwhile project or at least a fun project anyways thanks for looking Russ |

Russ; The Sho~bud, and all their different models, were changing probably every couple years; as they were ALL CUSTOM MADE. I've never really seen one have exact dimensions of another one(and I've had my hands on close to 100 shobuds in last 25 years of restoration/refurbishin/ setup work I've done); even made same month. Yes End plates and Tail pieces and Key heads were cast design made; but someone different built them on to the body someone ordered and none of those guys carried a measuring tape on them...ha...; Plus Bodies changed every few years along with different measurements of mechanics because it all depended on which of the 4 different models each year; was being build with custom set ups.
So as you can tell by my explanations; Sho~bud was certainly not your modern ONE STEEL GUITAR FITS ALL; like all the other makers did after about 1980 or so.
Good luck what you're trying to do; this is what home builders did a LOT of back in the 60's...you see a very nice pedal steel that had parts that were made by several companies (shobud; marlen; MSA...etc) on one body somebody homemade built; as you could buy parts from all those companies like that...is why there are so many (Does anyone know what steel guitar this is and who made it???? )pics all the time.

Thank you for the input Ricky this is going to be a fun serious project for me and i hope it works out well , Im in no hurry but i am excited about it also , finding parts other than what i can make might be hard. The keyheads with the curve at the end might be hard to find new I already have plans for the changer a 3 and 2 would be nice i think and the curved knee levers are available im looking at 8 and 6 on the pulls of course all that might change as i go on with the project , we ll see, maybe i just want it to look a Sho Bud ha .I have endplates for a D10 and lots of aluminum just waiting to be made into something , what could be better than a steel guitar , Thanks again for your comment Ricky |
