I am wondering.....what year did Fender switch from point-to-point hand wiring to printed circuit boards in their amplifers? _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

Some time in the late 80's or early 90's. Still using eyelet boards through the Rivera period in the 80's. The Blues Deluxe/DeVille were circuit boards. _________________ Michael Brebes

1986 or 1987. The "red knob" amps (Actually, the ill-fated solidstate "Zodiac" amps from the late 60s/early 70s were circuit board amps, but we don't like to mention those).
To be picky about it, Fender never used true "point-to-point" wiring beyond the early woodie amps from the 1940s. All the tweed through silverface amps used fiber eyelet boards. _________________ GFI S-10 P U, Moyo Volume, Fender Steel King, Fender 5F4 Super-Amp |

My woody Model 26 already had a perf board replacement in it... it's my understanding that the original board was eyelet, here's a still from a video:
And here's the video link:

I did hack on mine a little, in the '70s... I put a 9pin socket with a BF Bassman preamp section, improved it greatly (the Mic control became the bass). _________________ Too much junk to list... always getting more. |

Definitely a different amp... and it uses the (much weaker) 6K6GT instead of the 6V6GT. |
NOT according to Rob Robinette:
https://robrobinette.com/Fender_Deluxe_Models.htm
He shows it using 2 x 6V6s.
What a great looking cabinet!
I guess one could consider turret-board-wired amps as not true point-to-point, but the difference is minute compared to a full-on PCB-wired amp. _________________ Emmons & Peavey |
