Hi All
My projected covers album is turning into a kind of musical autobiography. I used to sing this song in the folk clubs in the UK when I was 18. I decided to try it in 4:4 rather than as a waltz...just to be different. Hope you approve.

Thanks for listening

Thanks Gary, that’s a nice version. Of course the 3/4 time is etched in our brains, but if someone had never heard the original, they would simply find this a very sweet and poignant song. I approve! _________________ MCI Arlington S-10 3+5, George L E-66, BJS & Emmons bars, Fender Stage Lead II 100W 1x12, Fender Satellite SFX, custom FX rack, 1983 Dobro 60D, Martin D16GT, Ibanez AS73, 1978 Rickenbacker 4000 custom. |

Thanks guys! (and I'm assuming Edward means me and not 'Richard')
I've realized how tricky it is to put together viable versions of songs you've listened to and admired your whole life. Particularly, in the case of JT, where the song has been played to death for 50 years and the singer has been increasingly incorporated into an over-sentimentalized version of American culture (partly of his own making). That said, I still think JT is a genius...just no more Christmas or standards albums please!! And no more phoney films of chopping logs in New England when you've clearly never held an axe in your life!...Think of your (false) nails if nothing else. _________________ Williams 700 Keyless U12 |

Thanks Jim
I'm glad you heard every minute because I think the last minute is the highlight, certainly better than the penultimate minute, which I think begins to drag a bit. But then I snatched it from impending disaster with some background steel twiddlin'. Always works!

And rightfully so Gary, please accept my apologies, I downloaded your album on iTunes and listen to it every day, I should have known by now ![Wink](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) _________________ <small><b>'75 Sho-Bud 4&4, '01 Zumsteel 8&8, 2012 Zum Hybrid 4&6</b></small> |

Edward, you are forgiven. Remembering, of course, what the philosopher Jacques Derrida said: it is only the unforgivable that can be forgiven.
At least you're listening to my music on a daily basis, so maybe your soul is not lost to us. Or maybe it is! It depends on which of my albums you bought.
