Been figuring out one of the great historical solos/outro. Mr.Greens/Ricky Skaggs recording of "No one can hurt you". His nuances and emotional note choices are exploding my brain. His timing/pedal work, vol. and guitar pedals simply stuns me! True Master of this machine! His playing is straight from the heart.

This is a really great outro. I've been working on this too, there's so much stuff in there to dig into. |

I agree, but I'm sure Lloyd just went in a played it first take I bet, not even thinking about it. |

I thought I had heard all this Highways and Heartaches but apparently I have not as I don't recall hearing this tune and I surely would have. Great tune and Ricky's vocal is just suberb. The arrangement with Lloyd's solo outro is just perfect and one of the unusual events where they let this happen.
No one plays with more feeling than Lloyd Green. His playing can bring a tear to a glass eye as in this example. Anyone that is not moved by his playing is dead inside. Of course, he can burn it up too.
It's no wonder that so many have tried to follow his path. One of the few true icons and pioneers of pedal steel guitar.
Thanks for posting this Joe. |

Ricky had to be pretty impressed as well to leave this long of steel part on the end of his song! |

One of the most beautiful solos that I've ever heard. I've been told that the solo as performed at the session was much, much longer. I'd really like to hear what was dropped.[/quote] _________________ GFI Ultra D-10 keyless

Yes, I recall someone posting on the Forum that Ricky S., responding to someone praising Lloyd's outro, said something like (paraphrasing) "You should have heard the stuff I had to cut!" |
