It's bittersweet remembering my dear pal, the late John McGann, who played great as always but Julian, man! He played a solo of astonishing musicality - especially for his age. It seems to encompass the entire history of early jazz guitar. I don't envy John to have had to follow that.

Thanks for posting this Andy. I've been following Julian's playing ever since seeing him with Gary Burton here in Santa Cruz circa 2004. He manages to always play in the moment and relaxed with confidence, creativity, brilliance, and technical awesomeness all at the same time.

Lage is amazing. What a joy it must be to dance your fingers around the fretboard like Fred Astaire dancing in the rain!
