Hello All,
This Regal Rd-40 is for sale at Guitar Center for $130. It is missing the top speakers. Is this a good deal?
Does anyone know how much those speakers cost?

Thank you,
Eric

Eric, screened dobro inserts are available online (unless you really are looking for 2" speakers) and all types of styles are used by cigar box guitar builders. All the usual suspects online seem to have them but I am still a big fan of CB Gitty ($14) https://www.cbgitty.com/cigar-box-guitar-parts/2pc-chrome-screened-sound-hole-inserts/

Just to be clear, these are not "speakers" they are merely screens that cover the 2 holes.

Thank y'all. I am new to the dobro game. Sorry if I do not get the terminology correct.

Would y'all say it is a good deal?

GC is the instigator of the term Speaker inlays in their ad text for this guitar.

It looks good to me, especially for that price, and it comes with a case according to the ad copy.

Missing screens is no big deal...replace 'em or leave 'em out...lots of players do.

The big thing here on this guitar is that it is not a squareneck for lap style playing, it is a round neck standard set up for fretting. Not knowing anything about the set up, action or anything else concerning the neck part, it would be impossible to say if it's a good value. GC has it listed as fair condition so....

If it's a good playable set up, then it appears to be a good value for what it is for someone looking for a standard fretted style resonator.

Ah okay. I see that.
Yes, I think I will be passing up on it then. I really want to get going on a lap playing and saw this offer at Guitar Center.
Thank you all

Some players have used a raised nut on a round neck and tune to dobro tuning. It's a lot of stress for a round neck, but that one appears to have a truss rod, so I dunno.

Musicians Friend has the Rogue squareneck in black or burst for $199 and no shipping. Watch and you might find an even better deal on the right day. These are decent entry level guitars with spun cones etc. It's a pretty good entry level instrument. I played one of these for a couple years. Not bad.

Disclaimer: This was 10 or so years ago, I have not seen one of these up close since. There may have been changes in the materials or construction that I'm not aware of.

Here's a good deal on a Rogue if it's still available.
This one has the upgrades and a gig bag and a pickup.

Even better with the upgrades here.
