Hi,
there is a lot of information about wiring guitars on the internet, but I just can find what I want to know, as I'm totally unknown with this kind of stuff.
I'd like to put new wiring in my Fender Champ lapsteel (±'60), have everything I need to do that, but don't know what type of wire (thickness, (un)grounded, core etc.) I'll have to buy.
It's just about pots, pups and jack; there's no switch on it.
In my opinion it's the same thread as in most guitars, but I'm not sure.
Can anybody give me a name like thickness, code, number, brand and colours, so I can look for it?
And also, is there another wire for grounding?
I also saw different wirings for the same Champ; why is that?
Is every wiring oké or can I wire it f.i. as a Champion?
Lots of questions, I know .......

Thanx in advance,
Frans

Just about any single conductor insulated wire can be used, Best to use one colour for signal and another for ground.
Black and white cloth covered wire looks nice and that is what I use since I have it, but really you are the only person likely to see it.

I use the cloth-covered push-back wire from StewMac:

Hey Frans,
I'd also use a cloth covered cable. If you have another guitar electronics project planned, I'd recommend you get one with a flexible core. With the short cable runs in the champ it wouldn't matter much, but generally the one with stiff core is better suited for amps and such. No need to buy a big bulk of it overseas. I got this for a similar project and I'm still left with enough spare cable for a lifetime probably:

I once saw there is a similar store in the Netherlands, but can't recall the name.
Good luck!
Ollie
