I have a friend interested in lap steel with little to no budget, and I was thinking I’d like to find him one for Christmas. I’ve seen those rogues on eBay for 80 bucks shipped, and was wondering if anyone had one of those or something in a similar price bracket they’d be willing to sell. I’m in Portland, OR in case anyone happens to be local.
Thanks very much,

.
I started on a Rogue.
Folks just love to make fun of them but it got me interested in lap steel and now I'm up to my eyeballs in guitars.
Yes, it has a short scale, plastic nut etc. but I played that thing for hours and had a great time.
After I found I loved the lap steel I modified it with a good pickup and made a steel nut and bridge for it. It improved it a lot.
An alternative at almost the same price would be an SX3 lap steel by Rondo.
People seem to like them a lot and they can be had for around $115.
After that guitars start at $175 and up to getting a 2nd mortgage. _________________ I have stuff.
I try to make music with it.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't.
But I keep on trying. |

nothing wrong with the Rogue lap for a starter. Got one with legs for around $ 80 and it works just fine. Giving it to my grand daughter to start her. _________________ 300 watt Tube Works Bass Head, Peavey Bass Amp,

I have a Rogue resonator guitar and am suprised with the quality of build and sound projection for the money. It's well made.
Not the same as a lap steel though... |

Not a thing wrong with the Rogue lap steel. Only issue is a little bit of ground static hands off. We have one at the jam barn. You can make music on it same as anything else. He can always upgrade down the road. |

Baron, I may be able to hook you up with an upgraded Artisan (Rogue) new tuners, pickup and wiring and converted to the GeorgeBoards 22.5" scale (with fretboard, nut and bridge)-not perfect by any means, but plays like a real lap steel. I'd love to see it go to a new player. I'll shoot you a pic and I'll keep it in that price range. Cheers, Tommy _________________ The One & Lonely Tommy Young
