Been listening to the Dwight Yoakum channel and he plays a lot of Wanda on there.
The steel playing is phenomenal on her cuts. Anybody know who the guy is?

Ralph Mooney did a lot of her Capitol Records cuts. I did a bunch of shows with her several years ago, playing my Fender Custom, not pedals.
She told me that Ken Nelson brought Ralph Mooney in to a recording session. He was playing his really rough looking steel with home made pedals. She asked if they could please get a real pro steel player. Ken kind of chuckled and asked her to wait and hear him play first. When she heard him she told Ken to get him for as many dates as he could.

Thanks guys. The tunes I heard were definitely not west coast a la'. Mooney style.
More Nashville type playing and very good too.
