Bob McCormick just called me and told me Don passed away. He was in a hospital in Las Vegas and had just moved there from Lebanon, Tenn.
His heat gave out after the move I understand. _________________ Charles Tilley ,

Don Holiman was first admitted to hospital with a cardiac issue that was controlled with meds. According to his family, he subsequently fell while at hospital, hitting his head causing brain trauma. He lapsed into a coma. Tests earlier today revealed no brain waves. He has been a dear friend since 1969. A wonderful singer, songwriter & guitar player. It never should've happened. R.I.P. my sweet friend ⤠|

Don was a great guy and, indeed, the "real deal". He was a seasoned veteran of honkytonks in Southern California and elsewhere. He came to the Phoenix show a couple years ago and sang with Jay Dee and us and there was no mistaking his authenticity. I sadly doubt conditions exist to create more like him. |

Here's Don backing Hag, with Red Rhodes on steel, Johnny Davis on guitar, and I assume either Archie Francis or Biff Adams on drums, since the drummer is obscured. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Is he the Don Holliman who recorded with Ralph Mooney 55 or 60 years ago?
Song title "I Never Go".
Great sound. Reminds me a bit of Tony/Johnny Booth.
Must be him......."I Never Go" sounds very much like the guy on Mike Bourque's video above. |
