Hank Williams Sr. not only was a singer but a fantastic writer. He wrote some big gospel songs as well. I came across this song a couple days ago and had never heard it before. Lloyd Green said one time that Hank Williams songs had playable melodies and I sure agree. |

Hank Williams recorded all his gospel songs under the name of "Luke The Drifter".
I have tabbed out about 20-25 of Hank's gospel songs.
His most famous one was "I Saw The Light".

You are too kind David. Joe, you are right about the title. It is something to think about. Erv, I was not aware all his gospel songs were under "Luke The Drifter". |

Paul,
His gospel songs were written under his own name but
Hank's recording company didn't want him to record gospel songs under his own name.
His records were played in a lot of bars and honky-tonks. If Hank issued a new recording they were sure to play it and the last thing they expected to hear from Hank was a gospel song!
So that was the reason for "Luke The Drifter".
