That $100 equates to $1,872.52 in 2020 dollars.

I’ve been eyeing that one for a while. Being in Canada though, it will end up costing me nearly $3000 of my crappy Canadian dollars by the time I factor in shipping, taxes, and currency conversion.

Retrofret always seems to get superb quality products—and price them accordingly!

I put in an offer on the Rick frying pan, but they declined it, and had it “pending” a day later. So it seems that they are able to get their asking prices eventually. They also have a very nice Gibson EH-185 listed...also at a high, but probably achievable, price.

They seem to turn over their stock as people will pay the prices. Ultimately, as I always say, is Ricknbacher making any new Silver Hawaiians? The pain of acquisition fades as you spend time enjoying the purchase. Joaquin's double neck (priced at 60k) has been there for a while. You can own a Clinesmith that's a clone for a fraction of the price. I hope it goes to a museum instead so future generations can see and hear it.

I am the proud owner of the 1937 Silver Hawaiian shown in my avatar. SHs seem to take a back seat to the Bakelites and frypans but they are wonderful lap steels. The sound is clear and full with a hint of the metallic body shining through. After hearing the magnificent horseshoe pickup I didn’t want to play my other steel guitars. The highly reflective finish can be a bit problematic if you are performing under bright lights but there are solutions. I applied some Dymo labels to help navigate the glare, which helped quite a bit. I’m almost embarrassed to say that I found mine on Craigslist for $300. It’s not the cleanest specimen but it sings like angels through an old tube amp.
