Howdy,
After approximately 85 years, one of the gears on this National Hawaiian gave up the ghost. Can anyone ID the make of the tuners? I 'm sure that these were used on other guitars as well. Is there a compatible replacement tuner with a gear I can use?. Finding a vintage tuner and using the gear out of that vs a new set of tuners would be my preferred repair Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I'm 99% sure those are Grovers. They look like the same buttons used on Sta-Tites. |

Yes those are Grovers. I have a 1935 alum national also. It was missing one those gears. Most all old vintage tuners use the same gears on there tuners. They may very slightly in thickness but if it has same number of gears it will usually work. I took mine from a 1950s Silvertone with a warped neck, worked great.
The newer Sta-tite will NOT fit. They have a different gear ratio.Stick with a real vintage tuner.....Chris |

Big thanks to Brad Bechtel who has graciously come to the rescue with tuners to get me back on the road. I’ll be sending a donation to the forum. Thank you, Brad, and thanks to Noah and Chris for their help. Awesome! |
