On the neck with the volume & tone knobs, I have this weird warbling sound when I play.
I tried everything to find the source of the weird sound. Checked every screw on the steel and everything was tight. When I applied downward pressure on the volume and tone knobs, the sound disappeared.
This morning I found the source. I have a stripped leg socket on the right leg under the tone/volume knobs. It's stripped to the point you can tighten that leg in the socket indefinitely. But when I turn it to the sweet spot where it is no longer loose, the sound disappeared. But it doesn't stay tight for long.
Anyone know where I can get a replacement leg socket?
Thanks!

Be aware that there were two at least two different leg angles on the Stringmasters. It seems that primarily the early long scales used the less angled socket but it's not entirely consistant. I'd let one of these go, $14 for the straighter one or $28 for the more angled one. $32 for both. Price includes shipping to TN.

Or you could use a new socket as available from Sill Supply but you'd have to buy the correct thread leg as well. |

Until your new socket arrives, try wrapping the leg threads with teflon plumber's tape. That should make it fit tight. _________________ If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.
I haven't met a guitar I didn't like. |
