I suggest you use Post It Notes to put markers on the rods, bell crank holes and changer holes at present positions. Take pictures that show good detail.
Also make a rodding chart for the pulls you are moving. Show Changer and Bell Crank holes rod will go in.
Place guitar on a cradle so you can tune the strings and pulls close, Before returning the guitar upright on the floor.
Remove rods to be moved. Concentrate on 1 lever, Move Bell Cranks on Cross Rod if needed to align with new pulls. Then insert rods in proper holes on changer and bell crank. Make sure there is free play on the plastic nut where it contacts the changer finger.
Go to 2nd lever, Move Bell Cranks and insert rods in proper changer and bell crank holes.
Be sure the pulls tune with a little free play between the changer fingers and tuning nuts. (This is important so if your knee touches a lever the string will not change pitch.)
Once pulls are moved and tuned return guitar to upright on the floor, Tune pulls, Check knee lever for travel and comfort and make any small changes as needed.
Good Luck on this mechanical venture and back Happy Steelin. BJ |
