Topic: Gloom despair and agony on me |

Well I’m sitting here behind the steel guitar.
I stop, fold my arms and say to myself “Why bother”!
At my age the odds are I will die within the next 6 months with Covid-19
No miracle cure or vaccine to save me if I came down with the virus.
The consciences is nothing will be approved before around the middle of 2021.
Given that many months doing as I’m doing, which is the best I can do to stay safe, the odds are close to 100% that I will come down with the virus and close to 100% I won’t survive it. |

Seems to me that staying behind the steel guitar in a safe place is probably the ticket to a long life under today's circumstances. In my case, as long as I'm behind a steel, there's a pretty good chance that everyone else will social distance....

Even for the elderly (over 80) the survival rate from covid is about 90%. Don't let the fear-porn on the news get you down brother. Most of it may be true but it's not honest if that makes sense
A whole lot of it is made up though. I think a lot of people are starting to realize that |

Let's see if I check positive and not showing symptoms they are going to let me check myself right into the hospital and when I ask they are going the give me all those latest preventive care meds we all hear about.
I won't hold my breath.

Bo, for whatever it's worth, my family doctor (who has mostly all older patients) recently told me he's had 18 patients that have contracted the virus, and all of them survived it. I recommend you always talk over any regimen with your doctor before you begin it. I'm not a doctor, I can't advise anyone what to do (or someone here would probably climb all over my ass). However, I can tell you what I'm doing:
1. Avoid outside contact as much as possible
2. Wear a mask when in any public place
3. Maintain the 6-foot rule as much as possible/practical
4. Make sure I get 5,000 units of vitamin D3 per day
5. Make sure I get 40mg of zinc per day
6. Keep a positive attitude, eat well, and stay physically active
Hopefully, this will all be behind us by spring/summer of 2021. Good luck to all!  |

There is a direct correlation between the fear of covid and the amount of tv/news a person watches.
We don't have a tv. I feel fine. Hmmm.
Taking the pooch on long walks doesn't hurt either.

| I have not done anything different that what I have been doing for the last 10 years. I take 2000 mg of vitamin C, 10,000 mg of vitamin D3, 500 mg of elderberry vitamins and drink a big glass of apple cider everyday. I also eat my share of apples and bananas. Most important is to exercise. I walk 2 miles a day, outdoors. I do ware the face masks in public places like stores and etc. I keep a spray bottle in my car with rubbing alcohol in it. When I get back in my car I spray and wash my hands with it. Like anything else, this virus will pass like gas!!! No worries...... |

Being informed isn’t about living in fear on one hand (oh no...we’re all gonna die!), or being smugly overconfident on the other (whoopee we’re all gonna die!). It’s about knowing how to improve a crappy situation (we don’t have to die from this!).
Getting sick to the point of being hospitalized puts added stress on the health care system, so just because you don’t die doesn’t change that. And we now know of proven ways to avoid getting sick (see Donny Hinson’s comment).
I would call it “Even” Temperament. And having more information about how to play increases your chances of becoming a good player. |

My wife died from a mosquito bite so maybe I would tend to think more on the fatal side of any virus.
From what I've studied the mask is not that effective in saving you from the virus.
I have obligations, so I can't just hole up like I'm in a senior home. Doesn't look promising that I can dodge the bullet with no miracle cure in the very near future. |
