I've been wondering if anyone plays this 6-string tuning:
<center>B D F# A B D</center>
It looks pretty useful to me. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I’ve been fooling around with it a bit, but tuned down a step to Am7 |

m7 tunings being equivalent essentially to 6th tuning...
1-b3-5-b7-1-b3
6-1-3-5-6-1
Makes it a D6, right? _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

Except that B is the lowest note, yes.
This is like taking the standard Bm11 (B D F# A C# E) and lowering the top 2 strings a full step. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

George de Fretes & Rudy Wairata used that tuning, (and it's variations). They were the steel guitarists with "Mena Moeria Minstrels" and the "Kilima Hawaiians" from the Netherlands.
D-B-A-F#-D-B-A-F# Hi-to-lo. D6th or D with added 6th as some call it. It is a nice rich mellow sounding tuning, very Hawaiian. _________________ Canopus d-8

That would be pretty useful.
Anothe very accessible and handy D6 tuning comes from open G dobro tuning, by tuning string 3 down to F# and string 6 up to A.
D D
B B
G >F#
D D
B B
G >A
Bm7 would have its own character of course, especially with a low root on 6 as you suggest. |

Essentially a variation of the ever-popular C6, but up a tone to D6
B D F# A B D intervals = A C E G A C Intervals
It does look good though. You have your minor root on the bottom, and your major root on top. You also have both roots twice in your 6 string tuning.
The D6 suggested by Andrew is close to your (b0b) primary 6 string tuning of GBDF#AD, GM9, which is D6 + a low G, _________________ Current Tunings:
6 String | G – G B D G B D
7 String | G6 – e G B D G B D (re-entrant)

Right. I noticed it after stringing up the Rickenbacker SW-8 which has weak top and bottom strings. I'm not quite ready to give up the low G in my regular 6-string tuning, though (G B D F# A D). _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

I’ve also been working on a Bm7 tuning lately. More of a D6 really, since the B only comes up once, and the D comes in three times. It’s also a reentrant tuning.
b D D F# A D
On 7 strings it’s
b D A D F# A D

Still evolving. I’m finding that putting the 6th on string 2 is a bit more logical, and since my pick control has improved quite a bit over the past couple years, it’s no longer difficult to avoid it if I don’t want it. So tunings are currently.
D A D F# B D
