Time to pear that collection down or get rid of most of it?! Well, I hope you'll turn to us.
We have helped several Forum members (just last month, we bought 27 instruments from a happy Forum member).
I work with a friend & partner and we purchase significant collections of vintage instruments--steels included. We pay fair prices, pay fast, and operate with integrity. We have already been able to make 3 Forum members VERY happy by taking significant numbers of steels and guitars off their hands when they needed to move them for significant sums of cash when they needed it).
I can offer you references from those folks if you like, for sure.
The friend that I've been working with has recently transitioned his business to a non-profit corporation, so when larger, high-dollar collections get purchased, a portion of the proceeds end up going to a charity, in concert with the seller's wishes.

The owner of Songbirds Museum? I went to college near Chattanooga (Lookout Mountain) and always intended to get down to SongBirds. Now it is too late.

No, Bob, but I have heard about Songbirds. My kids' mom lived on Signal Mountain for years. I'm in Nashville, my pal's in Wisconsin--just helped Leo Kottke sell a good portion of his collection so the proceeds could be donated. Good people!

I live in Hendersonville so I am close by. I have several guitars and a few steels left. I might consider talking about all of it if the price was fair and all of the amps were part of the deal. I am an old man now and am thinking of scaling down.
