I'm sure this is easy and I'm missing something obvious -- on my new Mullen Discovery the B pedal is too high when disengaged and I would like to lower it a bit. I can't for the life of me figure out how to lengthen the pedal rod -- both the hex nut and the connector socket seem immovable and I don't want to go too crazy with wrenches and bend the rod or anything. Am I missing something? Thank you! |

They will move if you use the right tools, i.e. ones that fit correctly and won't cause damage.
A light tap from a hammer may help. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

IF the Discovery uses a standard rod and connector hardware (and this I do not know), loosen the nut while the riod is still connected to the pedal's ball joint. This will hold it in place without having to put vice grips on the rod. It is easy to overtighten that nut and it can take considerable force to loosen it. |

If you're not gigging (yet) and always practicing in the same room, I'd set the pedals thusly:
Mash each pedal all the way down, and adjust the height so the bottom of the pedal is a bit over â…›"/3mm off the floor, or if your practice room is carpeted, the bottom of the pedal is just kissing the nap.
The B pedal has less travel, so it will rest lower than the A and C pedals.
The lower the pedals, the easier it will be on your ankle tendons.
If you're gigging, you may need to add some extra height to allow for strange carpet or uneven floors. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
