Anybody know who the steel player is in this killer band?
Damn... he nails it on the longscale '53(ish) Stringmaster Q8:

Cameron Cochran from the Cincinnati area. Fine player on pedals or not. Fabulous band that, but I don't think they are together anymore. I putzed around and didn't get up to see them while they were playing at Japp's in Cincy.
More talent there than you can shake a stick at.
I don't know what Cameron or the other musicians are doing now. I believe Cameron posted here a few times.
Nick Fryer, who's playing the Tele there, is a forum member here who played with them. Perhaps he knows more. _________________ proud appalachian american

You're welcome. Here's what Cameron had to say in 2016 about that Fender with credits to our man Chuck Rich who is another great player from the area.

That beautiful long scale Fender string master I have underneath my hands in The Twin Guitar Special video belongs to my mentor and very dear friend Chuck Rich who STILL plays at Bobby Mackey's Western World in Wilder, KY every Friday and Saturday night!!! The name Midwestern Swing is actually taken from a syndicated program he use to play on out of Cincinnati,OH called The Midwestern Hayride. Here is the link to the Twin Guitar Special arrangement we based off of Leon McAuliffe's recorded version with a few tweaks. Cartwright was right on about the Slow Boat arrangement. Thank you so much, everybody.
Sincerely,
Cameron Cochran

Hi there -
Didn't see this post when it was first posted. The Midwestern Swing has been on a hiatus, along with everyone else. We hope to get back to pickin' really soon. Thanks for showing interest in the band. I will keep you posted on any developments. You can find several of our videos on YouTube as well as a live recording from a gig on Bandcamp.
Thanks,
Nick Fryer |
