I have a ZB custom sd10 that was a conversion from a d10. I have a box full of all the extra parts from the C6 neck. I was thinking about adding another pedal to my e9 neck with some of the pieces, but upon inspection, the metal pieces that the c6 pedal rods attached to (pictured, I know it needs cleaned a bit!) are all going the opposite direction as the ones for the e9 neck. So I can't attach a pedal to them in their current state because it would push the cross rods toward the changer, when they need to pull away from the changer in order to pull the finger. Does anyone know if I can simply turn them around and attach a pedal to them, or is there another method I could use to add a pedal to this ZB? I have all the parts needed and then some.

Michael,
Those L shaped parts are a pain to remove since the bolts are set with a punch on the other side.
An easier way is to use an existing pedal/flat-bar and run a pull rod to a reversing setup on a cross rod.
Since you have lots of space under there you should be able to find a spot to mount another cross rod.
Here's an example with a knee lever, but it's the same concept.

Ah I see. That seems straightforward enough. I think I'm going to have to end up making a bracket to hold the extra cross rod. I should just need an L-bracket with a couple of holes drilled for the screws and the rod itself.
Do I need to even reverse it? If I put a long flat bar that reaches the whole length of the guitar (the original one for the c6 pedals) and put the pull rod right underneath where the C6 neck would be, then at that end of the flat bar it should be moving in the direction I need. then all I would need to do is attach a cross rod somewhere in front of it that can hold a pull rod underneath the e9 neckthat will go straight into the changer. sorry if that is very confusing. I'm having a hard time describing what I'm talking about.
Or is reversing it a better option, so that all my pull rods stays right underneath the e9 neck? |

Right - if you can mount the cross-rod so that the flat bar moves it directly, then you don't need a reverse.
But you do want to have the yoke/pull rods in line with the E9 changer.
Terminology on ZB parts is always so confusing.
The "flat bars" are actually bell-cranks. But so are the cross-rods with the yokes or bolts.
And I sure don't know what to call those L-shaped linkage thingies!
Good luck & post a pic when you get it working. _________________ "To live outside the law you must be honest." (Bob Dylan) |
